Thank you! I am sure if I lived there I would be trying out a new veggie dish from the market every chance I got. After all, so many of those PA Dutch cakes are vegetarian! lol

Thank you very much :) I am not sure I have really found anywhere in the UK that compares all that closely. I suppose in London, the nearest comparison would be Borough Market but it has a much more 'upscale' vibe to it and perhaps a bit snobby? While I certainly would never say that RTM is down market I do think it is down to Earth. Camden Market in London does have a food court area that might be pretty close for getting food presented by the 'mom and pop' type people. I did a blog entry on that market a few months ago.

Sara,
Great blog entry. You really caught the essence of the "Terminal" well. My wife and I make a habit of shopping there every Saturday morning when the Basic 4 unforunately is not open because the owner is a 7th Day Adventist, but I get the Soy Chicken sandwhich whenever I can get there on a weeekday or sunday. I am veg, and can always find something different each time I visit to take home for our Saturday night dinner. Today was the Red Veg Curry from the Thai Kitchen.
Keep up the good veg blog work !

Lovely photos, Sarah Jayne, and RTM is one of my favorite places. I used to go there for lunch quite often in the 70s when I worked nearby. In retrospect I guess I took it for granted! Now it's a THRILL to go there and I only live in South Jersey! How does it compare to places like that in the UK?

Fantastic blog post. Makes me a little sad because I was supposed to be going to Philli this summer and have had to postpone it due to my son getting married (not that I'm sad about that!). I will get there and now I know one of the places I want to visit.

What a fun and informative post! Lovely photos brought the Market to life, and your background history was very well done. Looking forward to making a pilgrimage out there soon!
